Maxim Torbotchkine

Maxim was born and raised in Russia. Early on lived in Siberia and eventually moved to Saint Petersburg Russia. He moved to New York in the early 1990s.

Maxim’s start in the industry was unorthodox. He was homeless his first few months in the United States and spent lots of time living on the streets and staircases of some old and interesting buildings all over Bronx and Manhattan. He remembers looking at all the stonework and layouts and architecture of those buildings and learning the common design patterns and styles. Eventually, he started working for a flooring company and creating color patterns and tile layouts for kitchens and bathrooms and eventually got together with experienced designers that taught him the rest. He ended up working for various small design firms and moving from New York to Baltimore then to Orlando and eventually to Saint Petersburg, Florida.

He loves figuring out space and how all design pieces fit into that space puzzle and then seeing the client’s eyes light up when seeing the final creation.

Maxim spends his free time with his a very sweet girl, a rescue pit-bull named Mollie.

He also likes to spend his free time either coding websites on his PC, playing with routers or sailing on his sailboat.
