Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Connecticut in 1984 and moved to Seminole, FL in June 2015.

How did you get started in the industry?
I got started in the industry working part time at the Home Depot while attending high school. I got friendly with the kitchen design professionals in the next department to mine who encouraged me to expand upon my learning. At the time, The Home Depot offered a six week design and 20/20 course. It was an amazing experience which has carried me far continuing through to the present day!

What is your favorite part about design work?
My favorite aspect working as a designer is that every project and client are unique which keeps the work interesting. No two days are alike!

Which room is your favorite to design?
My favorite room to design would be a kitchen as it’s typically the largest space in the home needing cabinetry and there’s more opportunities to be creative.

Describe a project you’ve done that you are most proud of and why?
One project I’m most proud to be a part of happened many years ago and has stuck with me. A very kind and friendly older woman approached me about having her kitchen refaced with new doors and drawer fronts. I wanted to make sure she was making the best investment and decision for her and her home so I began to ask more qualifying questions. Turns out she hated her layout and thought refacing would be more cost effective for her. I explained how refacing is very time consuming and actually more costly than most clients realize. More importantly, refacing her current cabinets would do nothing to address her concerns regarding the layout. She was aging and finding it difficult to use her wall oven located beneath the cooktop. I suggested keeping her existing appliances to save on costs and moving the wall oven to a tall cabinet. This change alone made her life so much easier. I suggested a budget friendly, yet made in America lifetime warrantied cabinetry and she was amazed how well it fit into her budget. I’ll never forget the day she came to order everything and she gave me a hug and kiss on the cheek in front of the store manager! She was so thrilled how everything came out and is an experience I’ll never forget.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Working with a team of amazingly talented professionals and clients with a shared vision is the favorite part of my job.

What is your personal design style?
My personal design style is transitional. I take elements of traditional designing I learned up north and combine them with the more modern flair living here in coastal Florida.

What are some design elements you love when customers add-in?
I love when clients add in floating shelving as it helps to create a focal point in almost any space thru decor or the backsplash material selected to compliment the design.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Cooking! I’ve been told my cooking is restaurant worthy despite the fact I have no formal training or experience in that regard.

Do you have any pets?
Two cats I rescued as kittens, Luna and Mr Kitty.

What’s your favorite way to spend a day off?
Favorite ways to spend a day off would be boating, spending time with my best friend, reading, gardening and playing with my cats.
